Welcome back to Naturally Bold & Beautiful! Based off the title of this post you can prob assume that I straightened my hair and you can also probably assume that the products I am going to review are the products that I used to straighten my hair. If you did assume those things….YOU’RE RIGHT! Lol
So the line that I used was the Mielle Organics Mongongo Collection! I purchased this line back when it first released, but I am just now using it. I decided to wait to use the line because I noticed that a lot of the products were geared towards using heat products and I knew that I was going to be straightening my hair in November. Well, NOVEMBER IS HERE! Lol
So the first product I used was the Pre-Shampoo Treatment. This actually surprised me a lot more than I expected. It’s supposed to help soften and condition your hair before you shampoo and it did exactly that. Applying it to my hair, it instantly melted my tangles and gave me so much slip. It smells amazing as well. If you like peppermint scented things, then you’ll definitely like the way this product smells.
Above is a picture of how my hair looked with the product in my hair. Although it may not look as if it is detangled because of my type 4 kinky hair, it is very detangled. This is a product that I will definitely be using again. I don’t really purchase pre-made pre-poo treatment so this one really impressed me.
The next product I used was the Exfoliating Shampoo. This shampoo smells really good. It has a clean smell to it (I know I say that a lot, but that’s what it smells like lol, with a light fruity scent). It did a very good job at cleansing my scalp. Although the shampoo is very light, you only need to use a little to get the lather that you need.
The next product I used was the Hydrating Conditioner. This is a deep conditioner that is protein-free. I has a similar smell to the shampoo. This conditioner was very thick, but it was was easy to spread throughout the hair allowing you to not use too much. I’m pretty heavy handed when I use products, so when I realized that it didn’t take a lot of the conditioner to cover my entire head I eased on using a lot lol. It also gave me a lot of slip to be able to detangle my hair. Deep conditioning is my favorite part of wash day, so I definitely will be using this product again.
The next product I used was the Style Setting Spray. I used this to blow dry my hair. I separated my hair into 4 sections and then separated each section into two to blow dry my hair. I applied it to my damp hair and combed it through and then blow dried. It didn’t take long to blow dry each section which was great. Below is a picture of my hair after I was done.
The next product I used was the Thermal & Heat Protectant Spray. I used this before straightening my hair. I will say this, the next time I straighten my hair I will probably just use this all together before blow drying. I’ll try using the style setting spray for something different. I did like this heat protecting, but I won’t know how effective it was until my net wash day. So I will be sure to let you guys know.
Below, I will be showing you a few pictures. One (left to right) of my hair after my first pass with the flat iron before clipping my ends. One of the final outcome (snapchat picture, lol sorry) and then there will also be one of my length. My hair was in a ponytail today for work, so you will see bends in my hair for the length check. If you aren’t following me on my IG (@naturallyboldbeautiful), you should go ahead and hit the follow button lol. You’ll definitely seem more pics of my hair on there.
I also used the Pomade To Oil Treatment. I used this on my scalp and then I also applied a dime sized amount to my hair before wrapping it. I really like this oil. It’s not super thick so it won’t weigh your hair down.
Hope you guys enjoyed this post! Have you tried this collection? What was your experience? Let me know in the comments!
